hilarious
So Haven apparently made up a fake laugh yesterday and won't stop doing it. It kind of sounds like an old man but it made me crack up all night. What a personality! Happy Friday everyone.

Day downtown
Haven saw Dr. Polley yesterday for her last surgery check up. First of all, taking a 9month old is WAY more difficult than taking a newborn or even a 5 month old. It used to be so easy--she would just sleep all the way to Rush, smile and be a big ham with the doctors, NEVER cried (except for NAM day) and was Dr. Polley's "best behaved patient." She was still cute and smiling but for some reason she thinks she's the boss all of a sudden. Dr. Polley said she's doing great-still has a small amount of hard tissue (scar tissue) on her lip but he said that will "relax" even more as time goes by. They don't need to see her again until February 2012 when she will meet with the entire team to determine if she will need any speech therapy. He mentioned that she will probably need a bone graft done between 7-10 years old depending on how she develops. Her nose on the cleft side is slightly lower and he said until the grafting is complete--it won't be perfect because there really isnt anything supporting her nostril on that side. After the grafting is done he is guessing she will not need any further cosmetic procedures because her nose will be perfect. After our Rush appointment, Amanda and I took the girls to Rainforest Cafe and then we made a quick visit to the Make A Wish office on LaSalle.

The girs really like the huge fish tanks and Arlie did a great job finding all the Nemo and Dory fish. "Mommy, what's that?" was heard a lot. The staff at Make A Wish are really awesome and we were able to pick up some gifts for our wish kids. LOVE MAKE A WISH! :)

9 months old today
Haven celebrated this morning by teething and refusing to eat or drink anything. She has her two bottom teeth so far but I can feel one coming in on the top right and her gums were really red last night. I don't understand Orajel because you put it in her mouth and she pretty much licks it off my finger before I can get it anywhere near her gums. So she's on her way to daycare right now and her tongue might a little numb. She sees Dr. McBride this afternoon for her 9 month check up. She goes to see Dr. Polley and Figueroa tomorrow for her final surgery check up as well so this should be a busy week. Our weekend was good--we went to Liam's fundraiser at Bourbon Street which was awesome. Our kids were really funny-Haven was really squirmy and acting like she wanted to get down and walk--which she doesnt know how to do yet. Arlie is also very busy all the time and so Amanda had to change her standing up in the bathroom. Apparently she didnt get her diaper on straight and that led to an accident IN the bar. Amanda had to clean up pee and Arlie had to be carried out without bottoms on saying, "Mommy, I want pants!" Never a dull moment. :) Hoping they raised a lot of much needed money for his family. Liam is scheduled for a stem cell transplant in May which involves him traveling out of state (Maryland I think) to live for 4 months. We're so thankful to have met them and are looking forward to hearing great news about his prognosis.
Have a great day everyone!
